the same可以表示同一个，也可以表示相同的但不是同一个。例如：

He is using the same pen as I lost yesterday. 他用的笔和我昨天丢的笔是一样的。（但不是我丢的那支笔。）

He is using the same pen that I lost yesterday. 他用的是我昨天丢的那支笔。

但如果the same后的名词为抽象名词，则同一个和相同的这二个意义就重叠了，此时既可以用as, 也可以用that引导从句，意思基本相同。

He will solve the problem in the same way as/that I did.

在这个句子中，同一个方法，同一种方法，相同的方法在意义上是没有差别的。所以as和that都可以用，意义没有多少差别。（尽管as多少带有比较的意味）。

此时that为关系副词，在从句中作方式状语，非正式语体常省略关系副词that。

He will solve the problem in the same way (that) I did.

网友的第一句就是这种情况：

You see, venom alters biological functions in the same way (that) certain drugs do.

第二句the same way作表语，所以不用介词in.

She feels the same way (that) I do 

关系代词that在限制性定语从句中作表语可以省略。

as隐含比较意义，所以as引导从句通常不会省略as.
